jameshandus on "[Theme: Major Media] Can't stop table row spacing."

Greetings,
I'm relatively new to WordPress.
I'm working with the Major Media theme.
Most of what I'm doing is inserting the contents of an older website using the WordPress text editor.
So I'm working mostly with tables.
The problem is that whenever I use a table row tag (tr), a huge vertical space shows up with a gray line in the middle.
I tried everything in the book and can't make it go away.
