I was hoping someone could educate me on the benefits of utilizing WordPress to build my website.
I started using Dreamweaver and got the hang of the basics pretty quick. After about an hour I had a nav bar and a few pages that they linked to. Unfortunately however I wanted to get into flash and SWF files that basically run my entire site. After playing around in Flash pro I decided that maybe it would be quicker and easier to just use simple scripts, or wordpress codex, or whatever the correct term is.
Anyhow, my concern is that I will be limited on my design. I don't like having to use a template where the links (nav bar) are in the upper right corner and perhaps surrounded by a square as opposed to wanting them say in the lower middle. This is just a simple example but my real concern is restriction of design ability.
I don't want to make someone else's template my own. But I also don't really have the time to get into coding, CSS, HTML, and swf building.
I keep getting told that Wordpress does not limit you, but everytime I attempt to learn and use it I feel limited.
Is it because I am using free templates? Should I buy one, will I then have more ability to customize it? Do I need more plugins that maybe I'm not familiar with?
Thank you in advance
