Red1 on "[Theme: Twenty Thirteen] Replace background header with fixed image"

I want to use an image of 1040px that matches the max-width of the site in the css. I don't want to use a massive 1600px image that overlaps the width of the site.

How do I go about it.
I understand basic css but little coding.
